Nordic walking has had a surge in popularity in recent years. Developed as a summertime activity for skiers, its versatility has increased its popularity. It can be run in many places, and isn't limited. We run a few classes each week. Walking with 2 ski poles in hand improves balance and also provides a gentle and effective workout for the whole body and mind.
Our nordic walking classes can be enjoyed by all abilities and ages. This unique activity provides a wide range of health benefits, both physical and mental. Overall fitness levels see an improvement, and it also develops an increased toning of the upper and the lower body. As it's a group activity, there's a great social element too. It’s a great excuse to get out into the fresh air and enjoy the experience with others. Nordic walking is also brilliant for heart and lungs, and can help with neck, shoulder and back problems.
Carefully selected locations have access to regular rest points, in case anyone should need it. We offer a range of Nordic walking classes to cater for different abilities. We have faster groups and slower groups, so that people are able to walk at a pace which suits them. Once the walk is done, we stop for a coffee and a chat, adding to the social aspect as well.
Participating in regular Nordic walking can reverse a decline in ability and fitness levels. Poor posture also sees an improvement, and muscle strength is increased and maintained. Many of the people who attend, also see additional improvements in stability, balance and mobility as a result of these classes. In addition, it is often seen to increase confidence, which promotes a sense of well being. Participating in the exercise as a group also decreases the risk of loneliness and improve mood and memory function.
